Steve Robinson: Music

The Dance

(Steve Robinson)
Steve Robinson
My youngest son and his fiance asked me to write a song for their first dance. I wanted to write a nice waltz with a romantic hook about how they met. Turns out the met in the parking lot of a Quickie Mart. So much for romance. I wrote a rhumba and sent them off to dance school for 3 months.
When I first saw you in the parking lot
I thought you looked kind of sweet
It didn’t take too long
Before you’d swept me right off my feet.

So here we are baby
I think its time to take a chance
There’s nothing in this whole wide world
I’d rather do so take my hand

So Let’s dance
Let the music play our bodies sway
And call out to the stars above
That this night will last forever
And never end this dance of love

The more I get to know you
The more I love your funny little ways
You make me smile, you drive me wild
I think about you night and day

Like the earth and moon and sun and stars
Circling round in harmony
I want my heart to beat to your beat
And get captured by your melody

So let’s dance
Put some emotion in the motion
And we’ll make it last a lifetime through
As long as we can keep the rhythm
Isn’t anything that we can’t do

Let’s dance
Let the music play our bodies sway
And call out to the stars above
That this night will last forever
And never end this dance of love
